My Trip To The Moon
This post has the "wild opinions" tag. That means the content of this post is neither my opinion nor the opinion of anyone else. The contents are untrue and definitely misleading. Read at your own risk.
When I went to the moon (actually not like the film studio for Apollo 11, in 1969) on SpaceX's dragon rocket I was very happy. The falcon 9 did what it required and did the first stage of the flight correctly. Launching at 17:38:01 on the 32nd of August 2021. The booster landed like it always does nowadays. Except that one time when it crashed to avoid a bird. I had my sights set for the moon and had only now realised it takes a couple days to make the journey. The Dragon capsule is small but very comfortable and full of the latest technology. It only has a couple of actual buttons with most things controlled using the touchscreens.
My destination was the moon, it is the first time Dragon tried to get to the moon and we were successful, luckily. I didn't want to end up like Challenger or Columbia. Well Columbia's crew weren't destroyed until their return to Earth so I still had that risk in front of me. But SpaceX has the latest in rocket safety as we could have evacuated at any point from launch until we are in deep space. Elon Musk is the head of SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink and The Boring Company. Personally (noting he did fund this whole expedition for me) I think that whilst SpaceX and Tesla are the forefront of technology and will go far and exist for a long time. Especially with Tesla's major improvements and the Giga press giving the world cheaper access to electric cars and consequently saving the environment.
The moon came into view and I took the photo above. The moon looks so small even smaller from Earth and is so far away. But the distance between the Earth and the Moon is virtually 0% of the distance from the Sun to the earth and that is virtually 0% of the distance from the Sun to Proxima Centauri the closest star to our sun. And in our galaxy, the milky way, the distance between the sun and Proxima Centauri is about 0% of the 15 kpc (kiloparsecs) radius of the galaxy. And our galaxy is one of 30 major galaxies in the Local Group of Galaxies. So yes the the moon is far away but humans and all human creation is 0% of the universe. So using that you might decide that extraterrestrial life is certainly out there. And I would just by using statistics will have to agree.
We we're now approaching the moon and I carefully along. with a lot of help from the autopilot, managed to land Dragon on the Moon's surface. The gravity on the moon is much lower than the gravity here on earth so I was bouncing all around the surface of the moon. I am not a scientist, yet (growth mindset), so my mission was to advertise paid spaces on future trips to the moon. And I had very little instructions on how to do this, so I decided to play football (the great British sport) with the others on Dragon and noticed the slower speed but higher kicks we could get on the ball. Then I decided on my week long stay to find the largest cliff I could find and jump off to experience the odd sensation of lower gravity on my body.
Whilst I spent a week on the moon it felt much shorter and I am now coming home on the Dragon just approaching the atmosphere of the Earth where I prayed (well trusted the engineers) that Columbia won't happen to us and well I am here to tell the story. I would thoroughly recommend going to the moon if you ever get the opportunity but the current price offered by Musk is most likely much much to high for anyone reading this.
